Unique Landz

The Necropolis

There is a cautionary tale told to young wizards and sorcerers; it warns of the dangers of exploring old tombs and burial grounds in search of knowledge, for one might discover more than they expected down in the dark depths. Primarily those interested in the dark arts and necromancy may hear whispers, a call from beyond the grave that brings them to discover a hidden palace, disguised as an ancient and massive tomb. The Necropolis holds forbidden knowledge that many would kill for, but most end up dying in the process of acquiring it and join the hordes of undead that inhabit the lost city. Some have survived exploring The Necropolis and brought wicked spells and magicz items with them. If but a fraction of the city’s hoard can turn a young warrior into a powerful warlord, who can imagine the power of someone able to take the whole city as their own?

The Sky Fortress

The bards sing of a mighty and never-ending storm that rages across Zestria. It is part of the tale that once a foolish feudal lord boasted to the skies that his castle was the most well built of all the landz, with walls so strong not even an earthquake could bring it down. The lord was a fool to jest in the face of fate like that, but he was not entirely wrong. Maybe it was a curse that brought the mighty storm to the lord’s home, or maybe it was sheer bad luck; what matters is that on a fateful day the Fortress was engulfed in a flurry of winds and lightning. The next day the storm moved on, with not a single brick or column of the castle to be found on top of the hill where it once rested. Recently a most inquisitive scholar made claims about the mighty storm, that there’s a dark silhouette among the stormy clouds, and it reminds him much of a certain disappeared castle. Perhaps an expedition should be made to explore the heart of the storm, there’s no saying what secrets the Sky Fortress might hold.

Kraken Port

Far from the safety of the continent there’s a misty island, where all kinds of pirates, corsairs and brave sailors can be found. Kraken Port is the biggest city of the high seas and a guaranteed stop to those that wish to make a fortune exploring the coasts and archipelagos of Zestria. The city is best described as an enormous shanty town with houses built upon each other leaving little space for the streets which are narrow and crowded, the most luxurious places around are usually the mansions of wealthy pirates or the huge taverns that flow day and night with rum, ale and gold. Those that reach the town soon learn of one of the few rules all inhabitants follow, throw a single coin in the ocean when you reach the port and a single coin when you leave, the reason? Well it’s most simple: You don’t want to anger the Kraken. And let’s just say the ruler of Kraken Port gets very angry when a ship sails to his city, and doesn’t pay him their fair share. Maybe someday a powerful captain will opt out of paying the tax, face the creature with sword and gunpowder and claim the port as his territory.

Wandering inside one can find a host of legendary warriors and heroes sharing stories of their bloodiest and boldest battles, each of them accompanied by faithful companions: Direwolvez as big as warhorsez, with a gaze so intimidating they could stop a man’s heart just by looking at him. To join the Howlz of Winter an adventurer must complete a single yet challenging task: to wander deep into the nearby forests and befriend a direwolfz in the heat of battle, that may explain the amount of old skeletons and corpses that can be found laying amongst the trees…

Blood Palace

Those that live in the regionz of Zestria know very well not to wander during the night if unprepared, for there are many legends of creatures that lurk in the shadows. One such legend recalls an ancient time of a certain fief. It's said that the villages around were safe and prosperous but, every month a young person had to be sent to the lord’s castle never to return. One fateful morning a famous vampirez hunter arrived at one of the villages that surrounded the Blood Palace, he claimed that the feudal lord was in fact a vampirez and that he would be the one to slay him. He rode towards the castle with the sunset but brought no witnesses to the battle, regardless of that horrifying screams were heard by all the villagers that night, as if the wind was carrying them around. No word was heard of the hunter, and the lord never came back to collect his tribute. Maybe the only way to learn of the fate of the castle is to wander inside, but who would be foolish enough to do that?

With no centralized government or state, the law of the dim lit streets is determined by the most powerful guilds present, there are legends however that one day a most intelligent thief will be born, one so cunning and deceitful that he or she could trick the gods if so was his or her desire. Deep down in the bowels of the earth lies a hoard of treasure so titanic that it could make the stoutest of dragonz faint, very few have ever set their eyes on it and even fewer have lived to talk about it. As a matter of fact that hoard remains mostly untouched; it was discovered by an expedition of a dwarfz King who sought to dig as far and as deep as he could. Down in those tunnels the King and his expedition went past marble and slate to eventually find a bed of all the most precious material: Gemstones, silver and gold. The dwarvez were without a doubt thrilled with the discovery but the King became mad with greed, he ordered his expedition to keep digging in search of treasure that was even more rare and valuable. Located at the highest peak of Zestria, the Dragon Aerie is a place reachable only to those with the strongest wings or bravest souls. These mountainous peaks have a sharp look to them, like fangs reaching to bite out the sky. Looking closer however, one might find the place is actually full of life, although the inhabitants are no less intimidating than the Aerie itself. Countless nests of all manners of true dragonz, wyvernz and drakez can be found here, as such exploring these mountains is reserved only to the most powerful adventurers. The few brave or foolish enough to reach the Aerie are presented with a daring challenge: To steal a dragonz egg. One of the few ways to befriend a dragonz is to care for it as soon as it leaves its egg, forging a true bond between the adventurer and the dragonz. The greatest drawback is trying to survive such an endeavor, as dragonz are extremely territorial and parental creatures and will without a doubt fight to defend their eggs or search for them once they realize they’ve been robbed.

The Tower of Knowledge

Treasure hunters from all over the world have heard about the Tower of Knowledge, as a matter of fact the place is known to be the largest magicz item to ever be created. It’s said that the tower was built by a duo of wizards that had very different goals but decided to work together. The first wizard wished to unlock the secret to eternal life, the second however desired only to develop a spell that could snuff out any life in a mere second. Both of them went to great lengths to further their research: Stole items from the hoard of dragonz, fought sphinxez for their tomes of ancient knowledge and even took down a mighty demonz just to access his forbidden scrolls. In the end the duo was able to acquire so much mystical knowledge that the tower in which they stored it became magiczal in and of itself. The legends say that any information that has ever crossed the mind of a mortal can be found in the tower, if only he can find it. The wizards, fearing the power of what they had created decided to enchant the tower with expontaneous teleportation, allowing it to change locations every few hours and then… they left, with their goals completed and with a treacherous gift given to the world.
